Kouhrang reopens ski resort in Zagros Mountains

Thanks to recent snowfall in Iran, Kouhrang Ski Resort has reopened in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province after more than a decade.

The resort was closed since the 2009 winter due to the low amount of snowfall and outbreak of the coronavirus.

The Kouhrang Ski Resort is located some 85 kilometers off Shahrekord, the provincial capital of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. 

The ski resort, in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains, is one of the most famous resorts in the region.

Launched in 1976 and located near the first tunnel of Kouhrang, it is in the eastern part of Zardkouh mount.

Due to the beautiful nature of Kouhrang and virgin slopes, it has become one of the tourist attractions of the province and the main destination for ski enthusiasts.

The ski resort is also called Chelgerd Ski Resort as it is located in the vicinity of Chelgerd city.
